Goodbye lease, hello mortgage.

We've now bought the house we've been renting. At the closing today, I asked questions like, "do they define what 'hazardous material' means?" I think today I doubled the number of legal documents I've signed in my life.

It's been quite the ordeal.

Congrats. It's an awfully sobering set of documents, isn't it? To say nothing of the fact that you are committing to making a significant monthly payment for quite some time to come (most likely).

On the other hand, if you relax your spamguards a little, you could now see all those "Sav3 $$$ 0n Y0ur Mortgage NOW!!!" offers. You still would only take them after being struck repeatedly in the head with a mallet, but now you know they're bad for you, as opposed to being merely inapplicable.

Second congrats. And it really is a sobering set of documents, isn't it...never thought of it that way. But it definitely is.
